The reason: the amazing little city car from the manufacturer Daimler, the 'smart fortwo', is celebrating its tenth anniversary. smart drivers from all over Europe will take this opportunity to flock to the heart of Pinzgau this summer: from 22nd to 24th August 2008 Zell am See-Kaprun is hosting the legendary smart times. Already for the third time in a row the largest smart meeting of the continent takes place in the picturesque holiday destination in the province of Salzburg. For an entire weekend, hundreds of international drivers are going to give three cheers for the racy little car and enjoy shows, music, and many parties.

More than 2,500 smart pilots are being expected in Zell am See-Kaprun from 22nd August. They'll all be heading towards the air field of Zell, which will be the great 'smart community area' for this weekend. The motto of the party in honour of the 'smart fortwo' and its exciting history is 'Let's Celebrate'. Among the guests is the popular rock band 'SheSays' from Vienna: fans of the quartet can grab the chance to see them live on stage on 23rd August at 7 pm and meet them personally at the meet and greet event. And on Friday evening the DJs are guaranteeing for a lively atmosphere.

During the days, everything is geared for having fun with the cult car. In the afternoons from Friday to Sunday, the tuned little racers are getting ready to show off their speed and horsepower. The 'Brabus Racedrive' is the definite highlight for the fans of motorsports. But that is not all! On Friday and Saturday there is an additional competition: the acceleration contest. If you are curious to learn how to tune your smart, you absolutely have to drop in at the 'Tuner Happy Hour'. From 5 to 7 pm many exhibitors invite guests to participate in a tour through the fascinating technology of the smart family and share valuable tuning tips. At the 'Deco Contest', however, looks is all that counts.

Another special of this year's smart times is an insight into the evolution of the 'smart fortwo'. The 'Walk of Fame' grants its visitors a look at the design studies and pre-standard models. And what the different smarts look like in action can be witnessed on Saturday morning: from 9 am the drivers are meeting at the old air field to get ready for the great car parade. The tour around picturesque Lake Zell is scheduled for 11 am - a moment which could easily make history. This year we are determined to break the existing record by increasing the length of the parade to as many as four kilometres! All we need for this is 738 smarts. Entering the Guinness Book of Records should be a piece of cake, don't you think?

But it is not only the kilometre-long smart parade which is sure to be a true sight for sore eyes. The visitors of the World Cup of Parachute Accuracy Landing, which is being staged on the very same weekend, are in for an amazing spectacle, too. In eight rounds, the world's best parachutists have to find the 'dead centre' after jumping off a plane at 1,000 metres of altitude. Among the starters are the two famous ski jumpers from the Austrian Skiing Association ÖSV, Thomas Morgenstern and Martin Koch. They are participating in the tandem category.
